He's Young. He's Inexperienced. He's Black. Yada, Yada, Yada…
Age
By far the easiest argument to dismiss, so we will dispense with it first. Senator Obama was born in
August of 1961, making him 46 today (47 on Inauguration Day). For comparison, check out
this list
of
other notable people born in 1961. Do any of them seem particularly young and inexperienced to you?

Experience
Senators Clinton and McCain will tell you to vote for them (or the corollary, don't vote for Senator Obama) because they are experienced.
Experienced? In what?
- Making woefully bad decisions for our nation?
- Spending more effort and resources on serving the needs of Iraqi's than those
of Hoosiers and North Carolinians?
- Getting the U.S. government so entrenched in bi-partisan quagmire that not only has it been rendered ineffective, it has become a
MAJOR embarrassment to the American people
- Turning American politics into a lobby-financed blood sport, being interested only in winning so they can attain or retain a nice, cushy government job and securing for themselves and their campaign contributor buds all the perks that go along with that, while WE pay for it all?
- Scurrying to hide the skeletons in their closets, while trying to legislate morality for the rest of us?
The fact that Hillary and John have all the "Washington experience" is the singular best argument for why they are not qualified to lead our country out of the woeful mess they've had a hand in creating. With either one of them, there can be no doubt that we will have four more years of ineffective government. We actually agree with one of the hackneyed slogans our inept Boomer managers have been preaching at us all these years:
You cannot be part of the solution when you are part of the problem.
Race
The racist redneck members of the Republican party who are still fighting the Civil War and, as much as
it pains us to say it, Democratic party elders like Bill Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro will also tell you not to vote for Senator Obama because he is black… uh, half-black, uh, half-white, uh, not black enough (huh?) … like, whatever…
Now, at last, something nice to say about the Boomers: to their great credit, they have raised their GenX children not to judge people based on race, religion or sexual orientation. More importantly, we GenXer's know from life experience that the color of a person's skin doesn't matter in their ability to make smart (or dumb) decisions, whether they are moral (or immoral), or whether they can (or can't) get the job done.
Nor does their religion, which brings us to the most terrifying thing we've seen since September 11.

This hate-preaching, rifle-toting, racist, sexist, so-called Christian has stated for the record that he wants to change the Constitution – The Constitution of the United States of America – to match some outdated storybook that he and a handful of members of his lunatic religious cult believe should take precedence over the Law of This Land and the Liberties endowed to us by the Founding Fathers. |
With this, the Republican Party in specific, and preachy Boomers in general, have sunk to an
all-time low. These whacked-out Evangelicals are every bit as evil as Al Queda and pose an equally great threat to American Democracy. By getting in bed with these charlatans to win a few votes, Senator John McCain has made it clear he will be bringing their blatantly anti-American agenda with him to the White House.
The Republican Party's association with the extremist religious right has made it into an island of backward-thinking relics amid a sea of forward-thinking men and women, straight and gay, White-Americans, African-Americans, Latino-Americans, Asian-Americans, fill in the blank-Americans, plus
non-insane Christians of many flavors, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Agnostics, you name it – we even met a couple of Druids once at a Phish show and they were a riot!
It is up to the hundreds of millions of sane Americans to STOP THIS MADNESS NOW AND FOREVER by voting for the future, in the person of Senator Barack Hussein Obama, who, unlike Senator McCain, has the intelligence to understand this elementary English phrase: separation of church and state.
| "No man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burdened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer, on account of his religious opinions or belief; but that all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion, and that the same shall in no wise diminish, enlarge, or affect their civil capacities." |
